Incontinence Tips

by Rachel on 07 November, 2014

If your loved one is struggling with incontinence or "accidents" there are things you can do. First, make sure they are offered the toilet at least every 2 hours. Sometimes a toileting schedule can help with

the issue.

You should also encourage them to use the bathroom first thing in the morning. Make sure they are still drinking enough fluid because often this is the first thing they stop doing to avoid the problem.

If it is an issue of not having enough time to get to the toilet at night consider a commode or a urinal to help. Don't be afraid to purchase liners or other incontinent products to help. Sometimes it is embarrassing for them to ask... so just buy them and leave them in house. Consider a trip to the doctor to rule out a urinary tract infection.
